Usually offering them in silver and gold tones. Most are chronographs, meaning they have a stopwatch function. Along other handy features like date or a calendar.

Take Casio’s A700W-1A (silver) and A168WG9UR (gold) retro timepieces. They’re very affordable and these digital timepieces have been really making a comeback in recent years too.

Casio even has quirky calculator watches which have a real retro look to them.

Casio vs Timex: Best For Durable Watches

Casio wins hands down in terms of providing the best durable watches, compared to almost any other brand. Especially compared to Timex.

Casio launched their G-Shock range in 1983. Since then it has basically grown into its own brand. G-Shock is one of the best watch ranges for durability.

One of Casio’s G-Shock watches even holds a current Guinness world record. Their G-Shock DW5600E-1V is the watch that holds the record for “The heaviest vehicle to drive over a watch”

The G-Shock DW5600E-1 is probably the best affordable durable watch around. It’s still one of Casio’s and G-Shock’s classic timepieces.

G-Shock today has a huge range of durable watches. Their trade mark is a big and chunky look. All with plenty of shock resistance, which makes them super durable.

You can find a wide range of G-Shock watches in all colors and sizes on Amazon.

Timex offers an ok range of durable watches that are rugged and have ok impact resistance. Their Expedition Core timepiece is one of their most popular.

The watch looks the part and is very rugged looking. However, it has a disappointingly low water resistance of 50m (115ft). Which makes you realise it isn’t as durable compared to your average G-Shock watch from Casio.

So Casio would have to win in terms of durability, especially since they hold a world record too, for their G-Shock DW5600E-1.

Casio vs Timex: Best For Sports Watches

Both Casio and Timex offer a selection of fitness watches that are very affordable.

One of the favorite fitness watches from Casio, is the G-Shock GBD800UC-3. Which is the perfect partner to keep on track of your fitness as well as being super durable and shock resistant.

However, Timex has a great range of Ironman watches. These watches are designed to help someone train for and compete in the grueling Ironman triathlon.

Their Ironman Classic is a sports watch that can keep track of your training and fitness regime.

These Timex fitness watches are super affordable fitness watches, and are available in a wide range of styles for men and women on Amazon.

On Amazon you can find a big choice of different styles for the Ironman collection.

Casio vs Timex: Best For Dive Watches

Casio wins again when it comes to dive watches, especially affordable dive watches.

The Duro collection from Casio comes in at a ridiculously affordable price! It has everything you could need for an inexpensive dive watch.

These Casio dive watches are actual dive watches with all the features of a dive watch. With a screw-down crown and water resistance of 200m (660ft).

The Duro collection is one of the most affordable dive watches around today.

Compared to the Q Timex Reissue diver style watch. Which has a lovely Pepsi bezel, however, it’s not a watch that’s built for underwater adventurers.

Instead it’s a vintage looking watch that’s inspired by dive watches of the past. As this Timex diver was originally released in 1979.

Plus it’s a lot more expensive than the Duro dive watches from Casio. Yet if you’re buying it for its looks you can’t go wrong. As it looks great, and comes in at a 38mm unisex size.

However, if you need a real diver the Casio Duro collection is your best bet.

Casio vs Timex: Best For Field Watches

Timex has a really great selection of affordable field watches.

A field watch is basically an old school style military timepiece from the era of the Second World War. They’re pretty basic watches paired with nylon straps.

Timex field watches make a great everyday timepiece.

The Timex Expedition Scout field watch is a great pick for this type of watch, at an affordable price.

Amazon has a huge selection of color combinations to choose from with the Timex Expedition.

Timex have a large range of different styles of field watches to choose from. We cover the best of this popular style from Timex in our Timex Review.

Or simply discover all of the Timex field watches on Amazon.

Casio doesn’t really have any field watches to offer, so Timex will always be the brand of choice for this style of watch.

Casio vs Timex: Best For Dress Watches

Timex is the best for dress watches, when we compare Casio vs Timex dress watches.

Timex has a great selection of gorgeous dress watches. Whereas with Casio there really isn’t very much choice in terms of a classic dress watch.

Timex have lately re-released a lot of older, vintage style dress watches. Which have been a huge hit among their fans.

So if you’re after a classic and vintage style dress watch Timex is the perfect pick.

Their Timex Milano XL is one of our absolute favorite re-releases from Timex! You can choose this 1970s inspired watch in either gold or silver. With their retro cushion-shaped cases.

Another vintage dress watch from Timex is their Marlin 34mm dress watch. A lovely little hand wound mechanical watch, that is straight out of the 1960s and another re-release.

This vintage style watch needs more looking after, as it has a movement which needs to be wound daily. But well worth the looking after if you ask us.

However, now Timex have released more versions of the Marlin watch. They now have an automatic version of this watch, as well as a larger Marlin watch. Which comes in at a large 40mm case size. Ideal for those who like more modern sizing.

You can find the Marlin® dress watch on Amazon in a range of styles.

Casio vs Timex: Our Verdict

Casio and Timex are two affordable watch brands with a lot in common.

Especially with their digital watches. As both produce quirky and fun retro digital timepieces. Either watchmaker is a great pick for that next digital Quartz Crisis watch that you always wanted.

In terms of affordable dive watches, sports watches and durable timepieces. Casio has to be our winner. Their G-Shock range is super popular for a reason.

Also their Duro dive watch collection is a brilliant dive watch to have for such an inexpensive price.

Whereas Timex has the best selection of dress watches by far. They’re vintage inspired dress watches are an all time favorite. The perfect, classic sizing too goes down a treat.

Also Timex has a great range of affordable field watches to choose from as well.

However, the winner has to be Casio. Just because they really cannot be beaten on price.

You can find a big selection of watches from both of these affordable watch brands on Amazon:
